I know plenty of people who are not Beatles fans, but I would encourage them to still give this a chance since it really is so much more than just the story of a band. I'm not sure why I thought I wouldn't, but something just didn't seem right about it. I am a huge Beatles fan, but really didn't expect to like this. It progressed as eloquently as the band did itself, with ever scene and interview being a logical step forward. Each episode is well over an hour long, and there are eight of them, but it never seemed like there was a wasted moment. I've never known that to be quite as true as it was for The Beatles Anthology. It's always something to the effect that the time just flies by and before you know it.it's over. We're not saying all of them deserve a place on those LPs, but we're glad they eventually found a home.Having just finished watching this entire series I will keep this short as it is as close to speechless I think I will ever become: It's been said to me countless times of films that are well over two hours long. While there are many alternate versions of classic songs scattered throughout the six discs (and many that are worth savoring), we think the 12 tracks worth keeping from the Beatles' Anthology series are the ones that were entirely left off their respective albums for one reason or another. But the best of them reveal a side of the group's history that was left undocumented, at least officially, for more than a quarter-century. And some are tinny live versions where you can hardly make out the band from all the screaming girls in the audience.

Some are fragments, some are mere dialogue. By chronologically lining up the band's earliest recordings (a cover of Buddy Holly's 'That'll Be the Day' from 1958 when they were still known as the Quarrymen) to the last song they recorded together (fittingly, a remix of 'The End'), the three volumes tell the story of the world's biggest pop group – the rise, the fall and everything in between. Still, Anthology posed itself as more than just a vault-clearing project (like Dylan's Bootleg Series).
